los museos del districto

before i begin this is one of the many things i love about mexico and foreign countries in general... delicious fruit!

anyways...in my 24 hours before getting to cuernavaca i managed to go to 3 museums in mexico city. el museo de anthrolopia y de bellas artes y de arte moderno... that´s your spanish quiz for the day... translate away.... quick hint is... they sound pretty dang close to english so if you can´t translate those words, give up trying to learn anything else...

so on thursday as stated earlier i took the autobus down to the museo de anthropogia. i love the busy times on the bus, people just squish in and hold on. as for the museo...it was amazing... i´m so glad my friend chris told me to go. they had so many artifacts, i just wished i had more time to read more and get to everything. some parts were closed which was disappointing but i didn´t know what i was missing...i guess. there were so many little tiny artifacts that were in prime condition. i wish my public schooling could have taught me a little bit more of the mesoamerican cultures... or maybe i wasn´t paying attention when they were maybe i was trying not to get caught with the fireball candy in my mouth...who knows... on friday i was reminded of the honesty the spanish language allows when i met a man on the street who told me he was a photographer of events in the jefe and told me i had a cara guapa pero un poca gordita. yeah translation...you have a pretty face but you´r a little fat. i couldn´t understand all his spanish but i think he wanted me to pay him money to take my picture like models. so unfortunatley for him i was turned off at him calling me a little fat...but he did take an unattractive picture of me anyways.... which i didn´t pay him for...i don´t know who was the sucka me or him.

so wanted to see the monumental once in a lifetime frida kahlo

exhibit from 1907-2007, which included many of her paintings and letters between her and diego rivera... but i went to the wrong museum! so here i am wondering around the museo de arte moderno and no frida.... a little diego (who i like more). here are a pics from that museo.

so once i realized i went to the wrong museum i hopped back on the bus for a mere 3 pesos to the museo de bella artes and got to see frida´s stuff. i couldn´t take any pictures though, sorry friends...

what did i learn from my museo travels? even when you think your museo setting is on your camera it still may not work correctly and your flash may go off by accident and museum secruity, some of which sleep on the job
will get mad at you. word to the wise, check your camera almost everytime before snapping. it was so much easier with my old school camera, no flash attached, no flash going to be made. i´m branching out with this digital thing, but i´m not convinced yet. we´ll see how it holds up to it´s waterproof up to 16 feet promise on the beach...

Great pictures, It's amazing what the world have to offer for the taking. I guess you'll never be satisfied with Page America again. Frida could have used our "mr tweezers".

i don´t think Frida´s unibrow was quite as bad in person. in her b & w pictures it didn´t seem that bad. i would have probably driven her crazy, if we were ever friends, because i would tell her she would need to tweeze a lot. Ask Jaimie.
