mckenzie river trail by foot

cheers to good weather
finally!
summertime in oregon
can't be beat
full of energy
at the beginning of the 25.5 miles

after 10- ish miles
on the first day
we camped at deer creek
and enjoyed a natural hot spring
it was warmer in the cave
that's what i call
a righteous backpacking trip
my heart is growing slightly mossy
over the river
and through the woods!
tamolitch pool
amazingly BLUE
i should have gone in...
next time
another claim to fame
from my father-
he designed the trail
on other side of river
here at:

after 12-ish miles on day 2
we camped at clear lake
hoping for a tent spot
but having to pay $16 for a site
at a designated campground
lame
but we didn't want
to walk any farther
the next day we found a spot 2 miles down
but only a mile from the end of the trail
beautiful clear lake
happy to only have 3 remaining miles
on the last day
we had other plans people!
we had to:
a. hitchhike back to our car
at the ranger station
b. go back to belknap hot springs
a pool built over some hot springs
that we decided to pass
and go back to
c. eat some food in eugene
d. get back so we could go
to a pool party that night

i mean there's things to do...
backpacking isn't everything
but it is pretty great.
next... i need to return
and do it all on my mountain bike
a happy 4th it was...
indeed
even without fireworks

I felt like the pictures on this one really capture the hiking experience. Some time will you take me to one of those natural hot springs?

Thanks for the beautiful trek report! I'm sure you were clothed the whole time and no doubt oh so careful in every other way. Do you own bear spray?
